Philanthropic Events
Pi Beta Phi has partnered with memberplanet to provide an online, one stop shop for customizing club philanthropy events pages, with additional social media marketing tools, broadcast and reporting features to make your club philanthropy events a success. And no more collecting checks! Philanthropy event registration is paid online via the club philanthropy events page or mobile app. All proceeds are directly deposited to the club’s bank account when the event closes. Once philanthropy events proceeds have been received, the club would follow Pi Beta Phi recommended donation procedures. Deduct all event expenses from total proceeds, before donating the NET amount raised to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation, utilizing the appropriate FT-2 Contribution Form to indicate the club’s desired designation.
IMPORTANT: All payments made to participate in club philanthropic events are NOT tax deductible. If participants would like to donate an additional amount to Pi Beta Phi Foundation that IS tax deductible go to the Foundation Donation Page. In the navigation menu hover over Alumnae > Alumnae Tools > Foundation Donations to learn more.
Using memberplanet your club will be able to market your philanthropic efforts for the following funds, utilizing a basic template that Pi Beta Phi has provided with the minimum necessary language regarding tax deductibility.
Funds: Friendship Fund, The Literacy Fund, The Literacy Fund with a Local Impact Grant, Emma Harper Turner Fund or the Holt House Fund.
Fund Information
Friendship Fund (unrestricted fund) –– The Friendship Fund is the primary way the Foundation fulfills its mission and ensures the future of the Pi Beta Phi sisterhood. Gifts to the Friendship Fund impact individual members of Pi Beta Phi, the Fraternity and the communities which we all serve. Everything Pi Beta Phi Foundation does is supported with Friendship Fund gifts, wholly or in part, with the exception of chapter-specific housing programs.
The Literacy Fund –– The Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation supports Pi Beta Phi reading and literacy initiatives, including but not limited to Read > Lead > Achieve® initiatives, Champions are Readers®, Fraternity Day of Service Signature Events, FDS 500, Pi Phi’s First Book® and Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy partnerships.
The Literacy Fund with Local Impact Grant - The Literacy Fund at Pi Beta Phi Foundation supports Pi Beta Phi reading and literacy initiatives, including but not limited to Read > Lead > Achieve® initiatives, Champions are Readers®, Fraternity Day of Service Signature Events, FDS 500, Pi Phi’s First Book® and Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy partnerships. In addition, the Foundation offers Local Impact Grants to chapters and alumnae club to support local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with literacy programs. Alumnae clubs may nominate 25 percent of their gift to The Literacy Fund for a local 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization (or registered Canadian charity) with a literacy program. That 25 percent will then be matched by the Foundation, dollar for dollar. For example, if an alumnae club makes a $100 donation to The Literacy Fund, they may use $25 to nominate a local 501(c)3 organization. The Foundation will match their nomination, for a total Local Impact Grant of $50.
Emma Harper Turner
The Foundation offers Emma Harper Turner (EHT) Fund grants which provide financial assistance grants on a confidential basis to alumnae and collegians in dire financial need and for those affected by presidentially declared disasters. Application process. Applicants may apply year-round.
Holt House Fund - Pi Beta Phi Foundation maintains a Holt House Fund for the purposes of providing funds to operate Holt House throughout the year.
